Happy New Year

It’s a new year and I could not be more excited about the sense of possibilities. 2012 holiday season was filled with cheer, family, friends and lots of DELMARSHMALLOWS. Over 250 mallows were created with flavors including vanilla, peppermint, caramel, spiked maple, and cinnamon. This tasty treat turned out sweet with that perfect amount of cinnamon spice and married beautifully with a warm cup of hot cocoa.

Thanks to the supporters of DELMARSHMALLOWS, I am inspired to continue the marshmallow madness beyond the holiday season. There are lots of tricks to be learned and flavors to try but the journey I am sure will be sweet. I am thankful this new year for all the blessings in life and look forward to sharing more of my marshmallow world with you.

Minty Magic

It’s a lovely, rainy Christmas Eve day and perfect for snuggling up with a warm drink. I am a huge fan of chocolate with anything mint and fell in love with peppermint hot chocolate years ago when I was a kid. I honestly can’t remember the year I started making peppermint marshmallows but I can say it is now a must and most requested by friends and family each year. For me it represents all the magic of the season.

May you all have a cup of Marshmallow Magic this year and a very Happy Christmas.

John Howard's Rock Maple LiqueurRock Maple Mallows

It’s been a busy few days on Delmar and marshmallow madness is definitely in full gear. This year I wanted to try some new flavors and the Rock Maple Liqueur was top on the list. Given as a gift from a fellow Delmartian, this liqueur is produced and made by her family in New England. Inspired from the personal records of John Philip Howard (1824-1904), the recipe is now preserved by her family for all to enjoy. The name Rock Maple was chosen from the Rock Maple tree, one of  two of the only maple trees that produce sweet sap and tapped to make maple syrup. More than 40% of this delicious bottle contains 100% pure grade “A” maple syrup and is 50 proof.

While making this batch I was a little light with the hand and use of the liqueur but I think next time I need to go for it. The marshmallow turned out sweet, light and perfect. My husband was so excited about this batch, I now have Bourbon next on the list.
